Media Lab
The mission of the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Library Media Lab is to provide instructional support to the UTHSC campuses through patron services, consultations, and a multiple-platform computer laboratory.
General Information
The Media Lab is located in Room 210, on the second floor of the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Library. The library provides access to digital media resources through the Media Lab. The computers in the lab offer students, faculty and researchers access to Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Adobe Photoshop, and audio/video editing software. The lab also houses the library’s nonprint reserve materials, such as CDs, DVDs, VHS, anatomical models, and computer-based instruction. Patrons can use the Media Lab flatbed scanners to digitize books, pictures and paper documents to create digital media content. Technical and visual design assistance is provided through the Media Lab staff. Printing access is available using the library pay-to-print system.
Faculty and Researchers
Faculty and researchers are provided with additional services through the lab. Digitization of 35mm slides, film negatives, x-rays, photographs and paper documents is available in small quantities. Video editing of patron-supplied source video is available. Audio and video files can be optimized and uploaded to the Media Lab’s streaming server for student access via the Internet, Blackboard or the local access network. Faculty members can request services and upload files directly to the Media Lab server. Services for instructional materials are available at no cost.
