New Scanner Available

In an effort to be more green, the library has purchased a new dedicated scanning station as an alternative to photocopying.

Features include

  • Automatically detecting double pages and splitting into two images
  • Various file type output formats including searchable PDF, quick PDF, JPG, PNG, Rich text, and even MP3 audio file of scanned text
  • Sending output by email attachment or saving to a USB device

The scanner is located near the Alcove computers on the 2nd floor.

For more information on the scanner, view the help guide (PDF) or ask library staff.

Please try it out, the next time you need something from our print collection.

  1. Paul Gahn says:

•There is a 25 MB maximum on sending to any email address (uthsc.edu, gmail.com, etc.) per scan session. 25 MB is approximately 40 pages.

•Color mode is set by default to Black & White. This is better for most journal articles, especially if you might print (after emailing or saving to USB device). Color mode produces a gray background.
