Module 1: Basic Library Skills

Purpose:   Users should be able to identify a variety of information resources, identify characteristics of information on the Web, and identify characteristics of library resources.
 
When you have finished Module 1, you should be able to:
 
  • Identify the library's physical and virtual location
  • Identify books and journals--print and electronic--owned by the library
  • Know how to access library resources at an off-campus location
  • Identify the databases the library subscribes to and makes available
  • Identify audiovisuals, CD-ROMs, and various multimedia owned by the library
  • Identify services offered at the library such as photocopying, study rooms, individual study carrels, interlibrary loans, and multimedia services
