Patron Policies

The Health Sciences Library is committed to maintaining a quiet and safe
environment conducive to research and study. To meet this end, all library
patrons are expected to conduct themselves in a responsible manner.
Disciplinary action for violating library policy shall be governed by the
applicable provisions of the student policies; the Faculty Handbook; UT
Personnel Policy manuals; local, state, and federal laws; and library policies.

Collection Development Policy

The UT Health Sciences Library Collection Development Policy includes
descriptions of the roles and responsibilities of the library collection
development faculty and a list of their liaison subject assignments. It also
identifies the selection principles to build and maintain the library’s
collections. The policy reflects the Health Science Center’s curriculum,
patient care, and research priorities; it documents how and why we build
our collections and provides a vehicle for communicating this
information to the university community.

Emergency and Disaster Recovery Plan

This document presents a plan of how to react in the case of an emergency
(e.g., crime, water leak, fire) or widespread disaster (e.g., earthquake,
tornado) that befalls our facility; as such, it outlines a course or principle of
action that we have adopted to protect life, the facility, collections, service
provision, and access to library services and materials in time of need to our
library patron primary group: UTHSC students, faculty, and staff.
